CANTON, Ohio (News Talk 1480 WHBC) – In Canton, you may have noticed work being done on the north side of the Memorial Civic Center.

Phase two of improvements has begun at the Market Avenue N facility, with an expansion that includes new restrooms.

Civic Center General Manager Blake Shilling says that should be done by the end of the year, then there will be improvements made to the restroom facilities along the south end of the building.

Phase one included new lighting, a new sound system, and improvements including a new ceiling in the concourse.

City Council approved the $2.4-million phase-two in improvements earlier this year.

Shilling says they identified $40-million in improvements to the facility in a needs assessment, though not all those improvements are expected to be implemented.
