RENO, Nev.  — For 40 years, the Reno Rodeo Foundation has provided essential resources, meaningful experiences and educational opportunities to help children and young adults across Northern Nevada overcome adversity and build brighter futures. As the Foundation announces its 2026-2027 Board of Trustees, it is looking ahead with plans to reach more young people, expand its support in rural communities and invite community members to play an active role in helping the Foundation accomplish even more.

From providing brand-new clothing and essentials to children in foster care and granting special wishes and quality-of-life enhancements, to creating welcoming spaces that encourage reading and helping young adults pursue education and meaningful careers, the Reno Rodeo Foundation provides support that meets immediate needs while opening doors to brighter futures.

Behind it all are dedicated people who give their time, share their talents and care deeply about making a difference for children and young adults right here in Northern Nevada.

Meet the 2026-2007 board of trustees
Leading the Foundation into its next year of service are Josh Iveson, president and chair; Thaaron Kalt, CPA, vice president and president-elect; Mike Torvinen, treasurer; Sandi McKee, secretary; and Craig Downie, immediate past president.

The board of trustees also includes Linda Bissett, Denise Carver, Matt Cates, Tiffanie Davis, Spenser Downie, Tommy Ferraro, Honorable Judge Scott Freeman, Greg Goss, Amanda Hale, Miranda Hoover, Kristen “Kris” Kirkpatrick, Tony Marini, Christopher “Chris” Mulloy, Mark Sutton, Justin Thomsen and Brandon Towne.

Together, these leaders will guide the Foundation’s programs, community partnerships and fundraising efforts as it continues its mission throughout Northern Nevada.

“Every time someone in our community steps up to help, we have the opportunity to do something more for a child who needs us,” said Josh Iveson, president of the Reno Rodeo Foundation. “Everything we’ve accomplished over the past 40 years has been possible because people in our community cared enough to get involved. There’s so much more we want to do, and with more people sharing their time, talents and ideas, we can accomplish even more. If you care about kids and want to make a difference right here in Northern Nevada, we’d love to have you be part of it.”

Community members invited to get involved
The Foundation is inviting community members to get involved through its committees, where volunteers help turn generosity into real opportunities for children and young adults who need them.

The Foundation’s 2026-2027 committees include:

  • Development, chaired by Amanda Hale, building relationships and securing resources to support the Foundation’s mission.
  • Events & Fundraising, chaired by Miranda Hoover, bringing the community together through events that raise funds and awareness.
  • Denim Drive, chaired by Tiffanie Davis, providing brand-new clothing, shoes and essential items to children in foster care across Northern Nevada.
  • Reading Rooms, chaired by Scott Freeman, creating welcoming spaces that encourage reading and a love of books.
  • Rodeo Wish, chaired by Scott Peterson and co-chaired by Sandi McKee, providing quality-of-life enhancements for children facing nonterminal medical, mental and developmental conditions.
  • Scholarships, chaired by Tommy Ferraro, helping young adults pursue education and opportunities for a brighter future.

Committee participation open to the community
Volunteers do not need to be members of the Reno Rodeo Association or have previous nonprofit experience. The Foundation welcomes people with different backgrounds, skills, connections and perspectives who share a desire to help.

“Think about what it means to a child to receive something brand-new that’s just for them, to have someone make a wish they’ve been holding onto come true or provide something that makes their life a little easier, or to know that people in their community believe in their future,” said Cheree Boteler, executive director of the Reno Rodeo Foundation. “That’s what we’re working toward. And when more people get involved, we can reach more children, create more opportunities and remind more young people that they can pursue their dreams.”

The Reno Rodeo Foundation’s next 40 years will be shaped by the people who choose to get involved today. Community members can contribute in many ways, whether by sharing a few hours, offering professional expertise or supporting the Foundation’s work with children and young adults.
