The Starbucks at 999 NW Leary Way has closed as part of the company’s nationwide cafe closures.
Starbucks announced it would close 250 underperforming stores as part of a large restructuring effort. Three cafes in Seattle are affected, including the one on Leary, which only just opened in February.
That location was once home to Jack-in-the-Box and 7-Eleven, which closed in 2023 after a fire broke out in the building and the roof collapsed.
Other Starbucks slated to close include one downtown at 1700 7th Ave and one in Rainier Beach at 9150 Rainier Ave S.
The Leary store is the second Starbucks to close in Ballard in the past year. The NW Market St and 22nd Ave NW cafe closed in September 2025 as part of another round of Starbucks closures. The space will soon turn into Petite Pierre Bakery, set to open sometime in the next few months. Petit Pierre is a family-owned French bakery with locations in Phinney Ridge and Magnolia.
No word yet on what will become of the Leary Starbucks, but we’ll keep you posted.
