The Tallahassee Police Department on Sunday night arrested a 15-year-old suspect in connection with a Florida A&M shooting Saturday near the university’s Bragg Memorial Stadium.

“What should have been a weekend of celebration in our community instead became a night of fear and violence for the victims and their families,” Chief of Police Lawrence Revell said in a Monday morning statement. “While this arrest marks a significant step forward, our work is far from over. We remain committed to holding those responsible accountable and getting answers for every family impacted by this tragedy.”

The teen is facing 11 counts of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a firearm by a delinquent, police said.

The gunfire erupted around 8 p.m. ET on Saturday near Perry and Manatee streets, leaving 12 people injured. Eleven individuals suffered gunshot wounds, while one person sustained an ankle injury while attempting to flee the gunfire.

It is not yet clear how many shooters fired shots or the extent of the teen’s involvement in the shooting.

At least five victims have been released from the hospital, while six others remained hospitalized Sunday night, including one in critical condition, Revell said in a video update posted to X.

A fight broke out before the shooting and detectives believe the shooting resulted from a dispute between individuals who knew each other. None of the 12 victims appear to have been the intended targets, according to police.

Officers responding to the scene Saturday evening provided immediate medical aid to victims before the perimeter was fully secured. Sworn and civilian personnel — including detectives, crime analysts and victim advocates — have worked around the clock since the incident to process the scene and identify those involved.

Police officials credited community cooperation for accelerating the case, citing a substantial influx of tips and public digital evidence submitted in the hours following the gunfire.

The investigation remains active and ongoing, noting that additional arrests are possible as detectives continue to review physical evidence, trace leads and establish the full sequence of events.

“We will determine what happened, identify those responsible, and get answers for all of the victims, their families and everyone impacted by this tragedy,” Revell wrote in a statement Sunday. “We know there are people who saw something, heard something or may have video that could help us piece together exactly what happened.”

TPD urges anyone with information to call the department’s dedicated tip line at 850-891-4610 or upload photos and video evidence via the agency’s online portal.

“We need our community’s help,” Revell added. “No detail is too small, and no piece of information should go unreported. If you know something, please share it with our detectives. Your information could be the key to holding those responsible accountable.”
